Cross Connections Presentation Evening
On Thursday 1st October we met together in the beautiful setting of St Nicholas Cole Abbey to hear about the work of 5 of the 40 ministries supported by Cross Connections. We heard from ministries around the world, including Latvia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, India and the UK. It was a delight to be able to hear presentations from two ministry representatives and to get to know them over the course of the evening. Three ministries had sent video reports which gave us a wonderful insight into the real people benefitting from our support, as well as the challenges in their unique ministry contexts. Details of all the ministries who were featured at the meeting can be viewed by visiting their profiles on the Ministries page, and the videos will be added very soon!
Whilst only five ministries were presented at the Presentation evening, a quick look at our Ministries page will show we support many more projects. Although we only hold two presentation evenings a year, we receive regular requests for support throughout the year from all our ministries. A small committee meet regularly to carefully consider these requests and any funds given are sent from the Chairman's Fund, a fund of undesignated donations received. Please could you consider regularly donating to the Chairman's Fund to enable us to support the ongoing, small needs of these ministries? The Chairman's Fund distributes in excess of £150,000 a year to these ministries. Your support to this fund allows us to continue to support these needs and expand to support even more ministries. Regular donations allow us to better financially plan the distribution of funds.
Whether you were able to join us for the evening or not, we would encourage you to prayerfully consider how you might support these diverse ministries who are working tirelessly and sacrificially to proclaim the gospel and equip pastors and evangelists right around the world. You can give towards the Chairman's Fund or any of the ministries we support either directly through their profile pages, or by visiting the Donate page. In many cases we are the only support that is received by a ministry and without our generosity, they would not be able to continue their work.
As Daniel Jones, from Stewardship, who partner with us in administering the funds, mentioned at our meeting: 'Some are called to go and receive, others are called to send and give'. God has blessed us with many good gifts, but He calls us to be generous with those gifts, whether they are large or small gifts. Will you join us and experience the joy of generosity?
Next Cross Connections Meeting - 1st October
We are so grateful to all those who have sacrificially given to support the ministries linked to Cross Connections since our re-launch meeting in March. We've received immense gratitude from the ministries you have supported and we are excited to see how God strengthens and grows His church as a result. With your help, we have managed to raise over and above two of the targets set by ministries at our last meeting, but we still have quite a way to go on some of the other targets. Please can you help bridge that gap? You can view each of the updated targets and still give to each of them through their individual featured ministry pages, and we'd love to see each of these ministries receive all the money they require to sustain and grow their work, particularly before the next meeting.
Since our last meeting in March, another 4 ministries have joined Cross Connections, so we need your prayerful and financial support more than ever!
The next meeting will take place on Thursday 1st October at St Nicholas Cole Abbey (114 Queen Victoria Street, EC4V 4BJ, near St Paul's Cathedral). The meeting will open with refreshments at 6.15 and presentations will begin at 6.45. We'll be profiling ministries from accross the world, including Zimbabwe, Uganda, India, the UK and Latvia. We'll be interviewing representatives of some of these projects as well as showing short videos of other ministries in action.
If you are able to attend the evening, please RSVP by emailing . We look forward to seeing you there!
Cross Connections Re-Launch Meeting - 2nd March 2015
We are delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new venture in Christian giving on Monday 2nd March 2015. Kerygma and Cross Connections have decided to combine their efforts, under the overall leadership of David Jackman and using the Cross Connections name.
The aim is simple – both organizations are doing very similar activities, aimed at raising money for “Gospel” work in the UK and globally – supporting and planting churches, evangelism, training and other activities aimed at spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Kerygma has for several years been putting on events with a “dragons den” type format, each one funding 5 charities or individuals who pitch on the night. Cross Connections has been running for over 15 years, supporting well-researched ‘front-line’ Bible ministries across the globe. By marrying the two we are able to bring to a wider audience the phenomenal range of where God is at work, both in the UK and in the most unusual and often far-flung places throughout the world.
In every instance what we aim to support is situations where God's Living Word is being taught and the Gospel is spreading, often in the most difficult of circumstances. In many cases the “new” Cross Connections will be the only meaningful source of funding for projects. We have a vision to introduce as many as possible to the joy of Christian giving from all age groups and financial backgrounds.
This launch event will take place at Old Mutual, Millennium Bridge House, 2 Lambeth Hill, London EC4V 4GG on Monday 2nd March 2015. The evening will begin at 6.15 for a 6.45 start and end at 7.45.
Please RSVP to by Friday 27th February. We look forward to joining with you to be able to share in the work of our brothers and sisters around the world.
